Chapter Activities
Chapter activities include:
- The Prof. S. N. Sinha Memorial Materials and Metallurgy Quiz for students of classes XI and XII, with the top two teams sponsored to compete in the BPMMQ at Kalpakkam.
- Sponsorship of Technica, a national-level symposium for Metallurgical and Materials Engineering students organized by the Society for Metallurgical Engineering Students (S.M.E.S) of NIT Jamshedpur.
- Organization of “Behind the Teacher’s Desk,” a two-day seminar for metallurgical engineering students, in collaboration with Tata Steel Limited and CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML).
- Establishment of the IIM Young Leaders Committee, tasked with developing and organizing innovative programs to promote materials and metallurgy among young professionals and students.
- Hosting of invited lectures by eminent professionals in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering.
- Launch of a lecture series, “Women in Leadership (WIL),” in association with CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur, featuring women speakers in science, technology, leadership, entrepreneurship, and capacity building. The series aims to highlight the technical and professional excellence of women. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Dr. Samita Bhattachraya of Tata Steel.”
