The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter organized a felicitation program for all the IIM ATM and NMA 2023 awardees who are associated with this Chapter on June 27, 2024 starting from 6.30 pm onwards in Beldih Club, Jamshedpur. Before the start of the felicitation program, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IIM, Jamshedpur Chapter was organized in the same venue. Prof. Ashok Kumar, MME Department, NIT Jamshedpur and Chairperson, IIM Jamshedpur Chapter delivered the welcome address. This was followed felicitation of the awardees. The professionals who received awards in different categories are as follows:
- Shri V. V. Mahashabde, Chief R&D and Product Technology, Tata Steel Ltd., recipient of IIM Fellow Membership
- T. Bhaskar, Chief Technology Officer, Tata Steel Ltd., recipient of IIM Essar Gold Medal 2023
- Shri Prem Kumar Ganesh, Head, Venture, Tata Steel Ltd., recipient of IIM Certificate of Honor
- Sushil Kumar Giri, Tata Steel Ltd., recipient of Poster Presentation Award
- Ravi Golani, Tata Steel Ltd., recipient of Poster Presentation Award
- Nemai Gorain , Tata Steel Ltd., recipient of Oral Presentation Award
- Sanjay Agarwal, CSIR-NML, , recipient of Oral Presentation Award
- Ammasi A. and Dr. Prem Kumar M., CSIR-NML, recipient of M S Khan Memorial Award
Dr. A. N. Bhagat, Head, Surface Engineering, Tata Steel, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He delivered a short speech, and a memento was presented to him as a mark of gratitude for honouring the occasion with his presence.
The M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture in the memory of late Mr. M.S. Khan, who had contributed immensely to the progress of the IIM Jamshedpur chapter as an Hon. Secretary was also organized. Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, has delivered the prestigious M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture on the same day immediately after the felicitation programme covering a broad area of Mg-WC Metal Matrix Nano-Composites. In his lecture, he discussed about various aspects of Mg-WC nano-composites including methodology, selection of base alloy and reinforcement, fabrication, role of incorporation of graphite nano-particles in Mg-WC nanocomposites. The emcee Y. Usha thanked the chief guest for his talk and requested Dr. Sandip GhoshChowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML to handed over a memento to him.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Sandip GhoshChowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML, Dr. Soumitra Tarafder, Former Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML, Dr. Mita Tarafder, Former Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML, Dr. T. Bhaskar, Chief Technology Officer, Tata Steel Ltd, Dr. S. Sivaprasad, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML, Dr. V C Srivastava, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML, Dr. Biraj Sahoo, Senior Scientist, CSIR-NML and many metallurgical experts from CSIR-NML, Tata Steel and NIT Jamshedpur.
The event witnessed a remarkable gathering of around 100 professionals from academia, industries and R&D establishment in and around Jamshedpur. The program was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Gopi Kishor Mandal, Secretary of IIM, Jamshedpur Chapter.
