The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Jamshedpur Chapter celebrates the IIM Foundation Day on February 24, 2026 by hosting a dynamic event to inspire the next generation of metallurgical engineers. The Jamshedpur chapter invited students from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur and BIT Sindri to engage with industry veterans and R&D experts at the Beldih Club. The key highlights of the event are as follows:
- Energetic Elevator Pitch competition for students and IIM members to demonstrate their vision for the industry
- Topics assigned for the elevator pitch:
- ‘Future challenges in Metallurgy and Material Science’ (Student category)
- ‘Recent developments in Metallurgy and Materials science’ IIM member category
- Following the Elevator Pitch competition, the IIM Jamshedpur Chapter hosted a series of Expert Talks with the prime objective of inspiring and motivating young minds, and sparking their passion and ambition
- These talks were delivered by :
- Dr. Anup Kumar, a recipient of the prestigious IIM National Metallurgist Award – 2025,
- Dr. Ammasi and Mr. Kaushal, both of whom are recipients of the prestigious IIM Young Metallurgist Award– 2025
- Over 150 participants attended, comprising students, IIM members, eminent professionals and executive committee members of IIM Jamshedpur chapters
- A unique opportunity for all the participants to gain insights and perspective from industry and R&D experts
