IIM ATM and NMA 2024 Awardees’ Felicitation Function and M S Khan Memorial Lecture 2025 organized by the Indian Institute of Metals, Jamshedpur Chapter on March 28, 2025 at CFE starting from 6:15 pm onwards
The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter organized a felicitation program for all the IIM ATM and NMA 2024 awardees who are associated with this Chapter on March 28, 2025 starting from 6:15 pm onwards in CFE Auditorium, Jamshedpur. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Professor, MME Department, NIT Jamshedpur and Chairperson, IIM Jamshedpur Chapter delivered the welcome address. This was followed felicitation of the awardees. The professionals who received awards in different categories are as follows:

Dr. S Ghosh Chowhdury, Director, CSIR-NML graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He delivered a short speech and reminiscence the contribution of Mr. M S Khan to IIM JSR chapter, and a memento was presented to him as a mark of gratitude for honouring the occasion with his presence.
The M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture in the memory of late Mr. M.S. Khan, who had contributed immensely to the progress of the IIM Jamshedpur chapter as an Hon. Secretary was also organized. Prof. R K Ray, Chief Mentor, Innovative Materials Solutions & Former Professor, IIT Kanpur, has delivered the prestigious M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture on the same day immediately after the felicitation programme on the topic “A CENTURY OF TEXTURE RESEARCH: HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE AND A PERSONAL JOURNE’. The presentation gives an overview on ‘texture’ or ‘preferred orientation of grains’ in a polycrystalline material, and texture research over the last century. This lecture provides a short historical overview on the subject, with a note on the Professor Ray’s personal involvement in texture research over the last five decades. Finally, the current trend and the future direction in texture research was addressed.
At the end of the talk, a brief question and answer session saw good response from the audience. More than 50 people attended the lecture including eminent professionals like Dr Soumitra Tarafder, Dr A N Bhagat, Dr. Atanu Ranjan Pal, Dr. Chiradeep Ghosh, Dr. T. Bhaskar, Dr. Tanmay Bhattacharyya.The program was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Gopi Kishor Mandal, Secretary of IIM, Jamshedpur Chapter.
